Our 6 chicks are in the house in a room that gets down to 64 degrees at night and hovers between 64-68 during the day. Is it good to have the heat lamp on during the day while we're around, and then just use the brooding plate at night? thanks!

They are 6 days old. Thanks for your advice : )) I was wondering about the temperature swing from 60's and brood plate at night, to heat lamp (high 90's) and plate on during the day when we're around.
I would just use a brooder plate if there is enough room for all under it. Make sure they touch their back to it, and can get out on all sides so as not to get squashed. No lamp is necessary, they will go to the brooder plate when they need to warm up.
