New to chickens, unsure about some behaviors

Just a suggestion here. Whatever kind or size of coop and run you have, always put an apron around it on the ground to prevent predators from getting your birds by digging under the run. I have always extended my apron back 2 ft, and made it out of chicken wire or hardware cloth. This really is a must, as predators are clever and they will dig underneath and get in. Also, racoons are experts at unlocking locks. On your current coop, the door doesn't look that secure or strong, so I would put one very strong lock (I've even used padlocks) one on the upper third of the door and one at the bottom third of the door.
