the shop said they have only had them for a week... and they are all just getting white feathers appearing on the tips of their wings!

How old do you think they would be if they are just getting feathers on their wings?

Also, i know you might not be able to tell, but does anyone know what they might be? and also when do you think we might be able to sex them?

thanks in advance!

They are either leghorns or cornish... these are pets right.. Please call the feed store and be CERTAIN they they are NOT cornish X's and are indeed egg layers. If they are cornish x's.. they are meat birds and will have many health problems as they are ment to be butchered at 8 weeks old. They are about a week old now.

Oh, if they are leghorns, at about 3 weeks roos will develop pink combs! That young for this type! Now if they are white rocks or cornish.. it will take a few more weeks past that.

thanks everyone!
we rang the store we got them from and they didnt know what they were, so they are calling the people they got them off to ask! we will find out tomorrow!
i hope they are leg horns!! they are growing fast! they have even more feathers on their wings now!

If they start growing diffrent colors of feathers besides white, chances are they're not white leghorns, but so far they look it.

I had orderd 6 white legurns, and 15 or so RIR/NHR/PR birds and i had about 10 white ones come, i thought that they messed up and gave me 10 white legurns, but little over a week and they started growing brown feathers.

I love white leghorns, they're actually my favorite,i love the long tails and the floppy combs that they get!!

Hey everyone,

Once again thanks for the help, we have been in contact with the place we got them from, and while they couldnt tell us exactly what type of chickens they are, they assured us that they were definately egg layers! so that took a bit of weight of our shoulders!

We were worried that they were meat chicks!

We are picking up an aviary for them on the weekend for when they are older! so i will post pics of that when we have it all set up!!!

Here are a few pics of them that i just took 10 mins ago.... you can see they have more feathers on their wings since the last photo i took on saturday!

They are still all white feathers! So we are hopeing that they are White Leghorns!

Cheers!
