So I have been looking at getting chickens for a while now. Well we finally did it. Started with just 6 2 buff orpington, 2 dominiques, 2 welsummer. Well my wife has also wanted silkies so I guess while I was away yesterday I come home to 3 silkies and 2 Rhode island reds. SO went from 6 to 11 in 1 day. Oh well, when I get into something I go all out so, here is to my start into the chicken world. Our chicks will be for egg layers mostly, however I wouldn't mind keeping a rooster around. I have trolled this site for years looking at all the different coops, and other articles on raising chicks. Thanks for all the helpful advice that everyone post, hopefully one day I can be helpfully to others.
