Hi guys. I'm brand new to chickens but will be getting our 3 egg-layers in a month or so. We are planning on using the design in the picture attached- just making it a bit larger, so the coop will be 4X4 and the run 4X8.

Do you see any flaws with this design? We live in a cold climate so it will be nice to have a covered run to keep out snow and rain and a plywood back to keep out the north wind.

Welcome! :yesss: We are glad you joined our flock!
Jump right in and make yourself at home.
Looks great to me. The only thing I'm not seeing is an apron type thing around the whole thing to help prevent diggers.

For one thing, as soon as chicken math hits, you will need a much bigger coop and run. Build bigger and I promise you the chickens will come, and keep coming. It's a fact of chicken life.

I think I'd add more ventilation to the coop, other than that (and the skirt Kiki mentioned), you should be good to go.
