(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens! I just bought my first house and it has a ton of yard. I checked my local codes and can keep chickens. I am a planner so just doing my homework now.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0 but I want 4...(I think)

(3) What breeds do you have?
None, but any advice on heat tolerant central Florida breeds is much appreciated.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am looking forward to having a few new "pets" to care for with the added benefits of some fresh eggs and fertilizer.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I knit and crochet, but also spin and dye my yarn.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I'm a 30 year old lawyer who just bought his first house. I have several dogs and cats and I am excited to turn my new yard into a natural oasis, chickens included.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found you through google and loved the helpful forum information.

Congratulations on getting your new house! Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun turning it into an oasis :)

This article from the Learning Center may be helpful to you when thinking what breeds you want:
Pickin' the Right Frickin' Chicken: Guide to Picking Backyard Chicken Breeds

When I lived in FL, the breeds that seemed to tolerate the heat best were Barred Rocks and Speckled Sussex. You will want to be sure to provide as much shade (natural or man-made) as possible. All that heat and humidity can really be hard for everyone, animals & people, to deal with.

Best of luck with all your plans!
