Hello, My husband and I are now the happy "owners" of 5 5 weeks old chicks and 2 4 weeks chicks. Everyone is a different breed. We are new to this and enjoying all there is to learn about their care. We have 4 cats (indoor) and 2 dogs. Plus 2 rescued horses. My husband is retired USN, we have lived in many places. Finally deciding on a small town in Northern AZ.
After showing him the style of coop I thought would work for us, he is almost done building it and the attached run. No plans just looked at my choices and now we have a nice coop almost finished. He has added a pull out tray for under the roosts, 3 nesting boxes, windows and Vinyl Flooring (leftover from our bathroom) for ease in cleaning. Our "peeps" as we call them and our little dog know to run and check on them are in the house in a huge been with a wire top. It's still very chilly at night up here and they are not old enough to be out there yet. This is becoming a very interesting choice we made and I love coming here and learning tips from all of you. AllI can say is if you are new like us Lisa Steele's books are so worth getting.
