New to chickens

I got my 1st ever 4 chicks for my back yard flock on Friday. I got them from The Tractor Supply company. I purchased all the supplies and despite my best efforts 3 have died and I am not sure my last chick will live with no other chicks . pretty disappointed but ordered some chicks due in Aug from a different hatchery.
Welcome to BYC..

Chickens are a social bird, but there are several people here will tell you, one chic by itself can survive. I would suggest giving it lots of attention, add a hand mirror to the brooder, so it thinks it is with another chick, add a small stuffed animal it can snuggle with to stay warm, and has comfort. There has been a few people on here lately with issues of birds dying from TSC, so don’t beat yourself up, I’m starting to think it is a hatchery problem or TSC problem, not what anyone is doing is causing this. Just keep the lone little one warm and as said above comfortable and loved it has a great chance to survive.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I'd get at least one more chick now. Chickens are flock animals and do not do well alone. TSC typically absorbs the losses from shipping before the chicks are put out for sale.
Please start a new thread under Raising Baby Chicks and post a picture of your brooder, what you are feeding them, what bedding you are using, where you are keeping them and any thing else pertinent you can think of and you will get ideas on what went wrong.

:welcome

I'm sorry for your losses, any idea what happened? I too would suggest you get at least 1 or 2 more chicks as soon as possible, both for company to your single and so you don't have to integrate a whole slew of chicks to what will be an adult bird in August.

Best wishes, feel free to ask questions as needed.
