New to chickens

Hi! I’m new to owning chickens. We got 8 production reds this week. They are full grown and already laying. We’ve had them for two and a half days and have 18 eggs already!

I want to free range them when we are home, I’m hoping they will help curb the massive tick problem.

All my chickens free range and they do fine, but it also depends on your location. Do you have a lot of predators by your house? is a good question to ask. There is a road in front of my house and my chickens know their boundaries, only lost one chicken to the road in 4 years.
