New to chickens

Welcome to BYC! I have a hard time picking a favorite, there are too many fantastic breeds. In my experience, Australorps and Barred Rocks have awesome personalities, Easter Eggers lay really pretty blue or green eggs, and it's hard to beat a Leghorn in the laying department. But there are SO many more wonderful breeds. How many birds are you planning to get?

Welcome to BYC.
My personal favorite is probably Crested cream legbars. They are very friendly, and lay a nice blue egg. I'm also very fond of langshans, welsummers, orpingtons, brahmas, and naked necks. Most of my flock are mixes of the above. I'll bet any chicken breed you decide on will make you happy.
