New to chickens

Hi, I'm Marie, new chicken owner. I have 4 RIR I'm looking forward to learning and enjoying this with my grandkids.
Is it OK to give my 4 week old chicks some raw sweet potatoes?
Thank you
I would recommend boiling the potatoes. if the chicks are provided grit stones, they should be able to eat the potatoes.

Hello Marie, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I would stick with a good quality chick starter at this stage of life. If you really want to give them a treat, dig up a clump of sod and put that into the brooder with them to scratch to smithereens after they get over their terror of it.

Hi Marie, here's a good article about giving treats to your flock: Table Scraps & Leftovers for Chickens

Personally, I'd wait until the chicks are older to treat them...at this stage of their life they need to eat their nutritionally sound feed and not fill up on "snacks".
