That was a great Introduction! She is a very pretty bird!Hello! I'm Chelsea and I've recently become a chicken mama! We have wild chickens in my town and while they are protected by laws one that looked like she wasn't doing too well came through my yard in the beginning of February. I began putting food out for her and she stayed close to our house for about a month when I saw her, looking much better, in a neighbor's yard while I was out walking. I asked my neighbor if it was her chicken, and she said no but that it had been destroying her garden and the gardens of our other neighbors. I told her I would house it and try to find a home for her since we did not have a coop or other chickens and knew she would need friends. She helped me catch her using lentils as bait and once we got her home and settled in a makeshift coop/run using my dog's house and gate she seemed really happy! I named her Lentil and she became a permanent member of the family. My brother and partner built her a mansion of a coop and run, and we now have 17 chicks that will be ready to move in with her in five weeks. She's laying 5-6 eggs a week and while she doesn't ask for pets and cuddles she melts when she gets them. I'm excited to learn as much as I can so that Lentil and the new babies get the best care possible, thank you all for this community!
