New to Chickens

Welcome to BYC, Larry & Lynn. I recommend waiting until your pullets are mature before getting a rooster. Maybe you'll get lucky and one of them was missexed. It happens often. Also, be careful bringing in a rooster from other people's flock, it is easy to bring in disease. Look closely at their place to evaluate the cleanliness of waterers, feeders, and housing, as well as the birds.

I have almost the very same recliner photo. Picked up some buff Brahmas at the local feed store a few years back. The box that everyone was in, was a bit chaotic. So I pulled one of the (mellow) Brahmas out of the box, sat down in my recliner and put her on a towel in my lap.

Next thing I know... the Brahma chick is working her way to my chest, and finally perches herself on my shoulder... and it looks like she was smiling. I'll try to find it on the SD card.
And where I live... you never know who is going to show up. Just went out to the coop... and found this...

YES... That is a baby Screech Owl. I held a baby Screech Owl in my (gloved) hands. How cool is that.

It was 4, maybe 5 inches tall
