New to Chickens!

My 3 year old daughter and i have recently jumped into the chicken world. We have 5 (2 reds, 2 americana, 1 barred) nine week old chickens and 1 likely bantam rooster.

We are curious what we are in for in the coming weeks. We are preparing for eggs in a couple of months.

welcome and i bet you will become addicted to this site. your daughter will have so much fun with the chickens. my youngest son who is four loves our chickens. he has made it his job to collect the eggs and to feed the hens. its the first thing he does every morning. of course i have afternoon layers so after nap time he runs out and gets the eggs. anyway enjoy and again welcome to byc.

I am also new to the chicken world. We are in process of bldg a chicken house and have ordered Ameracauna chicks which will be here next week. What does anyone know about Silver Laced Wyandottes? I have heard they are good layers and really pretty, but are they noisy? Noise is a big issue for us since we are in town. What do you know about this?????
