New to chickens!!

Hi: My daughter got me 6 chicks for my birthday in late September, 2009. I am anxiously waiting for my first eggs.
We had pigeons in a 12' by 12' coop in the backyard. When all the pigeons left, I cleaned, disinfected and made my
new coop ready for my chicks. They seem to be happy and I am enjoying them. I have read posts here several
times and learned a lot but this is the first post. I live in Tumwater, Washington.
