New to chickens

Hello there, I have never owned chickens. We are buying a house in the country in Kuna Idaho and want to get a flock of chickens. What do I need to know as far as feed? What type of chickens are easiest to care for? What kind of pen would be best? Is there a beginner blog somewhere I can follow. I don't wanna get 6 or 8 laying hens and have them miserable. I wanna do everything by the book. Tips and tricks please? Thank you!!!!!!!!!

First off Welcome!!

Trutfully I'd advise you to just read read read the forum first off. If you'd like to get some books they have the Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens that's great and a few others you can get on Amazon for pretty cheap!!

You will learn lots & lots here!!

I would just cruise through the forums, starting with the raising baby chicks section, then mosey on over to feeding and watering your flock and read there for a while. There is a wealth of information on this site.
