Thanks for the welcome, and suggestions. I didn't fine sex link chicks here is AZ. I guess the US postal service is refusing to ship chick to AZ. The boy at the feed store said they had a hard time getting them.
Any how we ended up getting 10 chicks. 2 leghorns, 5 Australopes, and 3 Americaunas. I am in love already! The leghorns seem to stand back more than the others, but I am sure they'll come around. They are only 6 days old, so right now we are just keeping them in the garage, so they stay at about 95 degrees.
Does everyone just feed them the Grow stuff they sell you at the store, or is it better, more healthy to feed them organically and is fruit and veggies better too. I dont want the eggs to taste funny, but I want good healthy chickens. Isnt the whole point to heathier chickens than the industry.
Greetings from a fellow Arizonan and welcome to BYC! You're chicks will be happy with chicken starter or grower. You can also get that organic. They will be happy with fresh fruit and veggies but they'll need access to grit. Be sure to stop by and say hello on our BYC AZ thread.
I also recomend sexlinks started raising chickens a year ago, after some reasearch decided thats what I wanted havnt been let down yet they are hardy heat resistsnt and cold resistant . great egg layers I am always having to give eggs away
