New to chickens

Thanks, everyone! We just ordered our coop and run and now will be searching for where we can find chickens in our area. Does anyone have dogs around their hens and if so, how do they do? We would like to let the hens have the run of the yard, at least some of the time, but are worried about our dogs.

Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC. I have several different types of animals including dogs. It does take training but lots of peoples dogs and chickens coexist.

I have 5 dogs and they don't pay any attention to my chickens. It really just depends on the personality of your dogs but my son's Pitt Bull doesn't even bother them because he has been taught chasing chickens is a no-no. Lol. Good luck with them. Oh, and Hello from Louisiana.
