My name is Nikki, I live in northwest Florida and this is our first year raising chickens. I own a custom cake business out of my home and have 3 young sons, so I am home a lot. We only eat organic and natural foods, so raising chickens for eggs and meat seemed like a great way to monitor what we put into our body. We also raise and breed meat rabbits and will be getting a piglet in a few months. We converted an old wooden shed into a huge coop and spent two weeks building the most secure chicken run we could (we have a real problem with coyotes and bobcats). We have purchased 10 Americaunas, 10 Wyandottes, and two roosters. We will be raising for meat and eggs so we started with a large flock. I used this site to prepare for our chicken venture. All the amazing information and forums helped alleviate a lot of stress. Thank you all for your great advice and personal experience.

I live in Pensacola and this is my first hatch which should be tonight or tomorrow, fingers crossed! I'm not sure other than fox that I may have problems with. Going to lock them up tight at night!!
