We are in Indiana near Chicago. We have a new backyard coop and four chickens hatched in March (Hope, Hazel, Miriam and Esther), one pullet about 8 weeks old named Scarlett, and two yet-unhatched and un-named pet baby chicks on the way in July. We are told to expect some eggs in October from the big four.
I am mother of four humans and wife of one. My husband builds patios and designs landscaping. I teach Spanish.
I grew up doing 4-H and living in big cities: Chicago, near Dallas, Barcelona Spain, New York City, and now am raising kids in small town Indiana. I have slowly learned to grow vegetables over the past decade.
I have a zillion questions and I call the feed store and visit the farmer's market obsessively. I am sure the local chicken folks will be glad I am joining this forum.
