New to chickens

No peroxide please, it burns healthy tissue too. YOu can clean wounds out with saline solution, and then slather on neosporin (NO Caine ingredients). Do not put back in the flock out she looks healed or they will just peck her apart again. Also blue kote on the wound will disquise the redness.

Be sure to keep flies off of her, they love to lay eggs in a wound - and maggots will cause much grief.

Sorry for all these questions.
So, If I separate the mean chicken for a while will they have a new order?

Heres the baby ones. I dont know why the black one (henry) isn't here. The black and white one is Hennifer, the brown and black one is Josh, and the brown and white one is Chicken Little. They're all about 3 months.

Meant to tell you how sweet your coop is.....Let us know how the chickens are doing! I am still waiting for my new hen to be accepted! Its been 2 weeks now....1 in quarantine and 1 out of quarantine. Still having squabbles! Nothing as bad as your poor girl though!

I bought one of those fly traps to keep the flies out of my run and my coop and off the poop! I read that flies will lay eggs on the chickens butt if there's any poop near the vent...and maggots will hatch out inside the chicken! The fly trap is not pleasant but the maggot thing sounds worse.! Lots of heat and rain around here this summer has made for lots of flies.

Thank you. Its just an old shed with a window and we put some roosts for them to walk around on. Thanks for the great advice everyone!

I have another question...
My chickens are digging holes in the ground to lay in and roll in. Does this mean something? They already laid their eggs today, so does anyone know what this means?
And, its only the two new chickens.

Yes dust bathing.....kicking and scratching and rolling and pecking in the dust/ dirt. I add a little sand and dry peat moss to their bathing area....and wood ashes when I have those. They love it! It cools them off and gets rid of lice/mites. Some people add a very small amount of food grade diatomaceous earth to the bathing area as well..
