Hi. I'm new to raising chicken I'm getting some silkies tomorrow for my birthday on the 12th. Any good advice would be awesome. I live in nevada. My coop is 10ft wide by 20+ feet long by15' high. I'm growing meal worms for treats. They were already in my backyard growing. I also plan on feeding them barley grains, I get them for 10 cents a pound.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Kelsie has you on a good path to the learning center. Lots of good articles on raising your new flock. Definitely stop by the Silkies thread too. If you have any questions about your Silkies, they can help you greatly.

Enjoy your new flock and welcome to ours!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I used to have some Black Silkies and they were very sweet, friendly, gentle, and funny little birds. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your Silkies.

That is one jumbo coop for silkies or is that their outdoor run? Silkies are good hoppers but not good fliers- they generally prefer to pile up in a corner rather than roost. There are several silkie threads on BYC. the longest running I believe is simply "Silkie Thread." There is even a thread on bathing and grooming silkies for show. Welcome to BYC

That the run my whole property is got 6' fences. And I'll make sure there's a good spot for them on the ground. I'll add a bigger nesting box
