New to Chickens

Hello! We are planning on getting a couple chicks soon and need all the advise we can get!! I've been watching a ton of YouTube informative chicken videos and reading a lot. We plan on getting buffs and plymouth barred rocks. How do chickens do with dogs? We have a Husky and 2 great danes. We will have the chickens seperated from our dogs in our fenced in yard, but nervous how they're gonna do.

When it comes to chickens and dogs, its the dogs you need to worry about. If the chickens dont get attacked by the dogs, they wont care either way. But if the dogs want to play with the chickens, the "play" usually ends up in dead or severely traumatized chickens. Many dogs that were not raised with chickens will want to chase them. Dogs raised as pups with chickens usually get along good with them.

You've received some good advice from the above posters. Chickens can be afraid of dogs, because they know that dogs are predators. Definitely keep a close eye on your dogs, because even the best-mannered dog may decide to attack what it perceives to be prey.

Yes, it's the dogs you have to watch and keep on leash. Chickens wouldn't kill your dog.
