Hi everyone I am also new to chickens. Picked up my first ones 4 weeks ago. I have 4 plymouth barred rocks, 4 black astrolorpe, 2 rhode island reds, and 3 pullets I'm not sure on breed. All are pullets no roosters. I live in Waco, Ky on about 6 acres.

Hi and welcome to BYC!

Glad you could join our community! Congratulations on your new chicks. You have some excellent breeds for egg production and they should have good temperaments, too. If you're not sure on the breeds of some of them, just post in the What Breed or Gender section: What Breed Or Gender is This? Members will be happy to help you out.

Good luck with your flock! Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thank you very much will post pics later this evening. Looking forward to being a part of this group and learning from it.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. You have a nice mix of breeds. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds), and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Enjoy your new chicks! Those are some great breeds you have picked out! You'll be getting lots of yummy eggs when they are grown.
