New to ducks, and this board

Hi all. I'm Rachel, from Seattle area. This week we plan to get our first ducklings. I've got a brooder set up from a hacked Great Dane kennel (free on Buy Nothing) which we'll keep in a heated and enclosed play house until our quackers are ready for the new run we built.

I'm sure I will have questions and concerns and look forward to drawing on all the collective wisdom here. I've been reading for several months in preparation for getting our girls, and I'm so thankful for the input I got -- it saved me from buying cute but impractical duck houses that grab the eye on Pinterest and given me some confidence in setting out on this project.
