I am going to build them a duck house next to my pond, but can they live healthily on chicken food or do I need to get them some duck food?

They can eat chick starter but they do better on something like Purina Flock Raiser. I believe grown ducks can eat chicken feed without a problem.

NON MEDICATED chick feed if you are going to start them on it. NON MEDICATED. medicated can kill ducks. it happened to me and it was really hard to lose a baby duck after a week

but just to be safe i would get purina mills grower pellets game bird feed. i raised my 2 muscovies on it and they are very healthy very happy ducks

I fed mine Medicated chick feed, then chick grower, and now they are on layer feed. You just have to look out for what type of medication is used in the chick starter feed, Amprolium is OK for ducks to eat. Most bags have a lable attached to the bottom that gives you all the nutrients and ingredience in the feed that is where you can find what type of medication is used. I give my ducks fresh greens everyday like pees and they are also free range so they get to eat anything out of the pond, garden, or whatever else they find.
