New to Ducks...

Hello everyone, my name is Todd and I'm a new member of BYC. I'm thinking about getting a pair of black ducks, a drake and a hen. I was wondering how often to expect for them to have ducki
lings running around in my backyard... Oh yeah, is it a good idea for me to just let them roam around freely in my backyard, or should I build some type of pen for them?

Welcome to BYC! To know how many, how ofter and fertility rate it would be best to research breeds. Some lay more, some don't. Some are good mothers some are not. It really depends on the breed.

As far are a pen or free range two things come to mind:

1. Do you want poop all over your back yard?
2. What natural predators do you have, a pen might be necessary.
