Just moved our family from suburban central Florida to Eastern NC following the passing of our son. Sadly we lost him to cancer at 13 and he had always wanted us to do the homestead thing. He wanted that for his sisters. So we decided we couldn't wait anymore and jumped on a 3 acre property in the country. I just purchased 4 little chicks from tractor supply. They were labeled ameraucana but the associate seemed confused why 2 weren't black. Our tractor supply typically has a brooder of ameraucana and a separate brooder for EEs. So your guess is as good as mine. I'm now aware of the deception involved! We're currently building a chicken castle out of an old shed on the property, we know we have a fox here, so predator proofing is a very high priority. I also think I have a roo, which is fine but unexpected. So thank you for accepting me into the community! I will have lots of questions!
