We moved to NC just 4 years ago, my nephew had a very small farm, and his eggs were delicious. We live in the country around tobacco, cotton and many others produce. Coming from Maryland a much different way of life and all for the good. Plan on building my first coop this Labor Day weekend coming. Went on fb asking about a builder for chicken coop, wow so many people jumped in. All I have to say is I find that I find that amazing. Still working on stationary or tractor, as of now we're looking to six to 8 chickens and between both properties we have about an acre. Been on you tube watching so much LOL!

Welcome. Go big with your coop. My suggestion, convert a shed. For the number of chickens you have, I would go with an 8x8 or 8x10. Bigger is better for many reasons. Also, make your run big and cover everything - walls, sides, and top of run with 1/2 inch hardware cloth. You will need a hardware cloth apron around everything to prevent digging predators. Also, increase the ventilation in the coop but cover any holes made with securely fastened hardware cloth.
