New to everything

Honestly, I think the best resource is here. I go to the "what breed or gender" section and just look at posts. I take a guess, then scroll down and see if I was right.

I read what others say about male specific coloring, feather shapes, comb, wattles, thick legs, all of it. It helps a lot. Of course, some breeds have their own quirks that can affect these markers but they're a great starting point.

My chicks are only almost 5 weeks, and the others are about 1 week. So I'm still very new as well. I'm wishing you luck!

When it comes to telling chicken gender, practice and repeated observation are key. The more examples you see of male and female birds of different breeds at different development stages, the easier it will be for you to identify males versus females earlier in development. Some breeds are much harder to tell apart than others, and some breeds develop quickly than others. There is sex-specific feathering and coloring that can allow you to identify birds early with confidence, but that's situational depending on breeds and genes involved.

I think the "What Breed or Gender is This? " forum on this site is a great way to start learning, you can often see majority opinions and eventual outcomes if the op comes back to update once the bird is older.

I have 8 birds between 10-18 weeks. Supposed to have 7 hebs and one rooster, but it looks more like 50/50 hens and roosters. How the hell does everyone tell? What's the best web resource for building this skill?

Thank you!

You've definitely found the right place for all things chicken (and more).
For determining sex, I'd look here first:

Also, pictures if you have them are worth their weight in gold.
