Hello everyone, I hope I’m posting in the proper thread. We are currently looking at adding to our flock. At the moment we have 8 light brahmas (1 rooster) that are nearing 3-years old. Unfortunately, our attempt at incubating didn’t work out this spring so we are going to purchase some chicks, hopefully Americana’s and Buff Abraham’s. The plan is 7 hens and 1 rooster of each (we do have the space). Would these three breeds commingle? If not, is there a better breed? We don’t want light brahmas again simply because we’d like a little variety to the flock. Thanks for the help!

In general, almost all chicken breeds can be kept together. I would expect Brahmas and Americanas to be fine. I've never heard of "Abrahams" chickens--did you mean Buff Brahmas? (Autocorrect does funny thing sometimes.)

Sometimes one individual chicken will act like a bully toward others, or one individual chicken will be picked on by all the othersm but that can happen with any breeds.

(What chicken breeds to not keep together? Be careful with breeds that feathers over the eyes so they cannot see well--sometimes those are fine, sometimes not; and do not keep males of actual cockfighting breeds together, for obvious reasons.)
