Hello all,
I am joining this forum in hopes of keeping chickens in the future. It looks like an ordinance will be brought before the City Council soon that allows chickens. Let's hope it gets approved! Any input on what I should say in the meeting would be appreciated. I will build a coop and buy some chickens this spring if all goes well. In the meantime, will be learning how to build a coop and what chickens are best for us. Thanks for any advice...

A warm welcome from an imp in Renton.

Check out the Washingtonians thread in the Where are you forum. Lots of nice people there.

Imp-Good luck with getting the ordinance changed.

Welcome! Good luck with the city ordinance, it seems like a lot of cities are trying to make it legal to keep chickens in city limits lately! I hope it passes and you'll soon have some of your own birds to talk about.

We have a section on ordinances and what to say at meetings, I highly recommend you check it out. Also, see if anyone on the site is nearby you in the Washington thread--perhaps you could have a group of fellow chicken lovers to support you and back you up!

So I assume you're aware that Mukilteo now allows chickens, correct?
