Hello. My name is Leesa and I am new to BYC. I have 2 chicken coops, one has 11 Rhode Island Red hens and a very cool, calm and attentive rooster named Ralphie, the other has 7 hens which are smaller layers, probably a mixed breed that we hatched in an incubator 4 years ago. So, I obviously do not know a great deal about these chickens but they all lay and seem to be very happy. They all range during the day after I have run my 9 dogs (requires some diligent choreography and mindfulness with timing). I also have 8 dairy cows, 2 American Guinea Hog sows, one American Guinea Hog boar, 8 cats, and 4 beehives. I work a full time job as an Emergency Room RN and am planning to retire in 2018. So there. That's me, my clan, and my plans. Glad to connect with a group who share a fondness for chickens. I have read some threads in the past when I Google questions about chickens and feel there is a plethora of knowledge to be found amongst my fellow chicken people. So, hello.
