Hi my name is Roger. I live in South Africa. I live and work on a vegetable and grape farm. I started about 14 months ago with 3 hens and a rooster. I had some chicks breed out (7), the hens killed some of the chicks (5). I added onto my chicken run and built another one to separate the hens. The new run had a small space where I was a bit short on wire and my one dog got in and killed the hen and 2 chicks. Since then my one hen hatched 4 chicks and now again 8 chicks this week. The other hen hatched 3 chicks of which 2 died. I am now planning on building a bigger run with only hens in for producing eggs. I joined this forum to learn what I can as this is my first time with chickens. I am quite proud of myself and wife for what we have achieved so far
