Hello! I've been stalking BYC for a few months now, but am just now joining the forums :) We live in Yucaipa, Calfornia (Inland Empire region of So. Cali) and are pretty new to having a backyard flock... just since the beginning of this year.
We started with four, but unfortunately, we recently lost one :(
We have a RIR, a Lavender Orp, a Barred Rock (who, for some reason doesn't lay), and the one we just lost was an olive egger.
We are loving having chickens so far, and even though we're still learning more everyday about having a flock, we can't wait to add to it!

Alright

Having poultry is like a bad addiction you can never have enough
and always want more so you have come to the right place

Here in So. Cal. you will want to make sure in the summer time
your chickens have water to stand in to cool them selves off

If you haven't looked in the BYC learning center you might
want to do so to find tips and hints about poultry

BYC has a BUY-Sell-Trade Forum but you will need 20 post
to use it and to get 20 post just go and say hello to 20 new
members and you will unlock that one

Welcome to BYC!

I am sorry for your losses. Gander has given you great advice here. You will definitely want to stop by our learning center here on BYC for lots of tips on keeping your flock happy and healthy....

Lots of great articles on building the coop, making sure they are out of drafts, keeping them cool and bio security, etc.... If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. That is what we are here for!

Great to have you aboard and enjoy your new flock!
