This is my first year with geese. I have a pair of Sebbies (Brook and River) who were raised with my first group of Dutch Hookbill ducks. Of course I knew breeding season would cause some upset but I didn't realize River would be so aggressive with the mild mannered Hookbills. I have a drake inside that I believe has lost not only all the feathers between his wings and, I believe, his right eye! They free range around the farm all day and are in a 6' x 12' safe pen in the shed at night. The attacks seem to happen during the day.
How long will I need to keep these two groups separated? I brought the goslings here so the ducks would have some protection from hawks -which the geese did brilliantly. I knew they would probably have to separated during breeding season but for some reason I thought breeding season was short.
