Myself and my husband have just got some embden geese 2 geese and gander. They are about 3 months old and have been with us a week now. Even though they seem quite happy to be around us we would like them to be more friendly with us.
How would we get them to hand feed?
There very good on ready. When we say " bed time" they trundle off to the out house we made up for them.
1 really likes me talking to her and comes a little closer when I do. However we still can't get very close without then waddling away.

You may have to be happy with that, geese really don't like to be handled or touched, Of course sometime they have to be handled if sick or injured. But as for petting they really don't care much for it. handfeeding can lead to nipping and biting so you might want to try what livininbrazil does she uses a pot put treats in it that way they are eating out of the pot not the hand no rick to biting that way. Mine follow me around and will talk up a storm to me but if i put out my hand to touch they will move out of the way and I raised them from 2 days old. they are almost 8 weeks now, my 2 adults dif don't want to be touched. But all are friendly as far as hanging out with me. Best to let them come to you and just let them hang close with out trying to touch them . I use a plastic bowl when feeding treats they love to eat out of it and know that bowl form anything else I have in my hand.

My lot spot the pot from 50 yards away, easily! And come running up the hill shouting. The only ones that don´t come near me yet are the two latest 'french'

ones I bought. But no matter, if they breed I´ll tame their little ones to the pot.

The first lady has chosen her nesting spot, so eggs should come soon, and then the rest of the maidens should follow suit.....
