Hi, my name is Jennifer and I am new to the group. I’ve had two pecking ducks for about two years, but I never had any chickens and I am new to having a farm for kind of acquired it with our house so we have horses and chickens, and I have my ducks, but I just acquired two more baby ducks, I am feeding them the flickraiser and I currently have a heat lamp still on them in a the tub out in my shed and they’re only like a week old. When do I start introducing them to the duck pen that I had built for them and when can I start introducing different food , and how do I introduce them to my chickens if anyone could help or give me any advice I’d greatly appreciate it thank you so much in advance

Hi Jennifer! :welcome :frow
I start my ducklings on a chick starter crumble and add 1 Tbsp of nutritional yeast per cup of feed ~ they need the extra niacin.
First week they need 85 temp on one side of the brooder, and the other side to be cooler. go down 5 degrees per week.
They need waterer that is deep enough to dunk their whole bill and their eyes into it, but not so big that they can get their whole body in there and swim. If you give them anything thing to eat besides the feed, they need grit in a dish separately, to take as they want. Use the chick size grit for them. dont give them layer feed it has extra calcium meant only for birds who are laying. the flockraiser or all flock are great after they grow. This is a good article from our articles section:
