New to group

:) We have a 17 year old Jack Russel. Wish we could have more space, but oh well, we live in the city.

Quick question. How do I reply to the group as a response to thank or whatever, without responding to each post? This could get cumbersome. Everyone super friendly so far and I am really glad that this website exists.

I can't wait to post pictures...availability of chicks is going to get me. We have a family farm here in Washington that has an awesome variety, but I just hope to get what we want. So far my 5 year old would like the Easter Egger because of the eggs, I like the Marans, Welsummers and then my husband actually is interested in the Polish Crested. Oh my, we like different and perhaps willing to have a pet chicken that has such personality and some special needs, like vision. I just hope we don't live to regret it. I want all of my chickens to be safe, happy and healthy!

Thanks again.

Peeps, Lisa

Hi Lisa, replying here as you have is to the whole group of people who greeted you. You do like different don't you!! I would say though on the polish that they don't do well in mixed flocks. They are often at the bottom of the pecking order and generally get picked on as they can't see well. They need a little extra care too as in the crest needs to be to checked regular for mites etc. poor vision too can make them flighty and easily spooked. I don't want to put you off them, just for you to be aware of their extra needs.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing your pics.

Well, this is why I joined this group. Learning about mixed flocks. Since we are getting 3 or 4, I want to have a variety. That darned pecking order!
Thanks for your input...will keep this in mind. I can't have everything that I want, learning to make those hard decisions!

Peeps....
