New to hatching chickens

Hi
We’ve been keeping chickens in our garden for over 10 years. Because of the unforced lockdown and a broody hen , we decided to have a go at hatching eggs under this broody. Well today I’ve gone to check on her and we have to start of a hatch. Can anyone let me know how long it takes. They are light sussex bantam eggs

Congratulations on your clutch! It will take a day or two normally, and it's best to just let the broody get on with it - she provides just the right temperature and humidity for what is an exhausting process for the chicks. They may need a day to recover too so don't worry if they all just sleep at first. The broody will also need a good feed when it's over, because she'll probably sit tight however long it takes.

Sending good hatching vibes your way! :jumpy As Perris mentioned, just let the broody do her thing. From pipping to hatch can take 24 hours, and the actual hatching process can take an hour. Good luck and keep us posted!

ive just dared have another look and there’s another that has gone far more than the first one I saw this morning. Both cheeping away.
