I'm going to try my hand at hatching guineas. I've attempted to help my mother and she got 6 live out of about two dozen but only two made it. So I'm going to try to incubate a half batch of guineas and a half of Marans. Do what do I need to know about hatching two kinds of eggs. I know the guineas will take longer. I'm using a forced air HovaBator with automatic turner.

My recommendation is to add the chicken eggs 7 days after putting the guinea eggs in the incubator. This will cause lockdown on the 25th day for the guinea eggs and the 18th day for the chicken eggs to occur on the same day allowing the eggs to hatch about the same time. Since some guinea eggs can start hatching on day 26, a few of the keets will be ahead of the chicks.

I often hatch guinea eggs, turkey eggs and chicken eggs at the same time. I use a forced air incubator with an auto turner and use the same settings for all of them. For a forced air incubator the incubation temperature should be 99.5°F. The humidity should be at whatever level it takes for the eggs to lose approximately 13% weight over the course of the pre-lockdown incubation.
