I totaly admire you going off grid doylehomested. I enjoy my A.C. and washing machine to much but we have been talking about investing in solar panels one day. We have 20 acres most of which is going into pasture for the cows and horses. I want to start easing meat rabbits but I'm trying to not get ahead of myself like I did with my chickens. The thing that is the hardest but most rewarding in the long run is the garden. I do not under any surcumstances have a green thumb but my dad is helping and teaching me a lot about gardening. My mom keeps giving me a hard time, jokingly, about not planting according to the almanac which has been a staple in their house since I can remeber. My dad even cuts his hair according to it. My chickens are my most rewarding part though. My biggest obstical has been finding out that I dont know nearly as much as I thought I did. All of this stuff is way more involved than I could have ever imagined.

I am totally with you! I NEED MY DISHWASHER AND WASHING MACHINE!!! hehehehe but I totally support those who can do with out! My husband really wants solar panels too!!! If you ever need gardening advice, I have a green thumb!

almost 2 weeks old and their first day outbof their brooder box.took them about 10min before they started scratching about and getting excited. They really like hanging out in the branches I gave them to play in

I'm new to homesteading too. I wanted to do something more to help my husband. I get bored easily so I thought something more time consuming could be fun. I started researching homesteading and lit up. "I get to play in dirt, work with animals and get a work out all at the same time?!" I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, but I'm having fun.

I have recently matched up with the perfect man for me. Now we are partners and mates and are moving what was left of his mini farm from central Florida to the Macon, GA area to start fresh on 2-3 acres of a 43 acre parcel. We will be raising our own food and generating our own power. I even get to have a composting toilet! We currently have chickens, ducks, and doves. We will be getting a donkey up there as soon as we can get his paddock built.

We will be working with aqua/hydro ponics and alternative energy sources. We will be staying in our motorhome until we can build our small cabin out of 12x30 storage shed. We need to build the chicken coop and pen, the greenhouse, the shop and a few other outbuildings. A lot of the farm here is being repurposed up there. There is a lot of work to be done and it is going to take some expert logistics to get everything moved North and set up and settled in.
