New to incubating, 2nd failed hatch in 2 weeks. What am I doing wrong???

Therein lies the problem. I don't have the answer for how old, so I digress to someone with better knowledge on that. All mine are under 2 years. I know sometimes people have issues with the mating actually "contacting" but that's usually with fluffier butt birds from what I've seen and you'd think he'd be able to make his mark on a couple at least. Hope you can figure it out.

Hope you don't mind but I was thinking about your post and I have another question. I know you said you'd defer to someone else on the age thing (so maybe I make this a separate thread), but when you say all yours are under 2 years, are you saying your hens or your rooster also? I'm wondering if its possible for a hen who's still laying but not as much to be harder to inseminate than a younger hen.

Again, maybe a separate thread? What do you think of that?

Yes, my whole flock is under 2 years old. I started hatching in 2014. All of my birds are birds that I've hatched myself except three that came from my sister and are going back ASAP.

Age of layer will have a big impact on fertility and development of the eggs, so if they are older, it can contribute to issues.
