New to Incubating- what are pips and zipping?

what are pips and zipping and anything else I should know?

What should the humidity level average be inside the incubator? Thanks for any tips!

There are 2 pips
pip 1 is in to the air cell. You dont see it but if you hear cherping it has happened.

pip 2 is when you see the first hole.

zip is cutting a line around the egg

My humidity is as low as I can get it for the first 18 days an 75% the last 3.
Others use 55 to 60% the whole 21 day.
An hundreds of other vereations. all work somewhere, non work everywhere.

how many days into the incubation before would you typically hear the first pip?

Ours pipped between day 19 and 20. I will see if I can send a picture next for you. There is a long, agonizing wait, between pip and zip.
