So, new to chickens last year, first time trying incubation. Thought I had it all figured out. I was given chicken and turkey eggs to try. Excited as I was I put 18 chicken eggs and 5 turkey eggs all in at the same time. From what i can tell I'm running 50/50 on chicken and 4/5 on the turkey eggs on my 10th day.

Do I have much for options now realizing that the turkey eggs have to stay in there longer?

Keep an eye on your air cells and see how they are tracking. Some people wait until their eggs are pipping before increasing the humidity so that might be an option, then as soon as the chicken chicks have hatched you could lower it again if your turkey eggs look like they need it. Don't let your humidity fall below 25% (very important). Let their air cells guide you as to what they need - don't get too caught up in the numbers.

I frequently incubate quail with 75-80% the whole time so a lot depends on your climate (plus their eggs are a lot smaller). A small incubator is less affected by high humidity and make sure your temperature is bang on or even slightly on the high side. Lower temperatures are not conducive to evaporation and have a negative impact on the developing embryos, much more so than humidity.

"This paper describes changes in embryonic metabolism and behaviour, as well as in mortality and malformation rates, in response to manipulations in environmental temperature and relative humidity. Overall, manipulations in environmental (incubator) temperature during incubation produced more drastic changes in embryo development than humidity-related manipulations, especially whenever mortality and malformation rates were concerned."

Anyone else tommorow is day 18. What would running my humidy as say 60-65 be like for either the chicken eggs or turkey eggs

Had my first pip from a chicken last night about 5pm. This morning I woke up to a chick. So far no signs of any other pips out of any of the other eggs
