Hello all. I'm new to indoor chick raising. My other chicks were raised by hens, and my uncle had a large brooder due to incubating. Well, I went to TSC and adopted 6 chicks. 5 bantams and 1 Cornish Rock. I've browsed on here and I am guessing they're all between 10 and 16 days, give or take. (I forgot to ask at the store.)

I've got them in a smallish plastic tote with a heating pad for radiant heat. I'd appreciate suggestions of how to raise them. They all seem healthy enough, everyone is peeping and active, and I've had to put a towel across part of the tote and a screen across the rest to prevent them from flying out.

I'm not sure what else I can do. I'm going to go looking for something larger for them, perhaps something I can put roosting bars in. Any suggestions would be useful. (We were hoping a hen would adopt the chicks, but apparently the broody hen we had decided earlier that day that she wasn't interested in sitting eggs anymore, so..)

You can give them clean food and water with some supplements such as probiotics in their food and apple cider vinegar in their water to increase their chances of staying healthy. You can also give them some clumps of grass from outside, which strengthens immune systems. You just need to give them chick grit to help them digest the food. Roosting bars are great, although they'll need a bit to figure them out, most likely. :D

I don't have any chick grit. I am giving them fresh water and food. Here's their new digs that I just moved them to.
