Hi all, I'm new to all this cute chicky hatching and so far am loving it... it's scary too!
We started out with 6 eggs and all were fertilised. Candled them day 10 and noticed 1 of them had 2 embryos in (all the rest had one.) On day 16 candled again and egg number 4 (2embryos) with one little and the other 2/3 times the size. I've resigned to the fact they might not hatch!
On day twenty 3 started pipping (No 3,5&2) and by day twenty-one 2 had hatched. I had to help the 3rd little chick out late last night as it was distressed and seemed to have lost its fight..once he was out he just lay there, so didn't expect that one to survive the night.. To my amazement this morning it's sat up right and chirping away but still very wobbly on his feet. One of his toes (longest) is just slightly curled under all the rest are fine I've tried to put a boot on but just keeps coming off!
There is no sign of the other eggs pipping or anything..eggs numbered 1,6 &4 (4 has the 2embryos)
We are on day 22 now
Questions: How long should I leave the other eggs in for and do you think they'll hatch?
Plus what shall I do with pipps long slightly curled toe?
