Hello fellow chicken lovers!
My partner and I just moved from, well, all over - back to his hometown in Maine. We just built a compost pile and are looking forward to our next building task... building a chicken coop! We haven't had chickens ourselves before - but worked on many farms with them (we do the whole organic farming thing) and my mom currently has four darling layers.
I keep hearing wonderful things about BYC and am excited to get to know some folks... and will shortly be looking for help from other Mainers on where I should get some chicks from! We only want 6 or so, so aren't looking for a mighty large order, hopefully we can find a feed store near by and/or go in on an order with someone... but I hope to find someone local we can just take a drive to and pick some up!
