I purchased 3 peachicks about 3wks old today. I put them in a pen with a top and they aren't walking around they just smash themselves to the floor, I nudged one and it didn't really get up and move it just looked at me. Are they just scared?
Thanks

Hmm I'm not really sure. Have they been eating and drinking? You could try adding a little sugar in their water - not sure of the ratio, I'm sure you could find it on the internet, or if someone chimes in and helps out. I've only had peas since this Friday so I couldn't tell ya. They might be nervous but I wouldn't think that would mean they'd stay on the ground like that.
I hope someone with more knowledge chimes in here pretty soon for you.

I just didn't know if that is how peachicks act when they are scared do they freeze like that or are they flighty like chicken chicks and guinea keets?, they've been moving cuz when I check on them they are in different spots but I just thought they would act more like guinea keets or chicken chicks and be running around more, there is electrolytes in the water

Today, I brought home 3 peachicks that are only a few days old, they're very flighty and noisy - if they're not sleeping - but they have not been socialized, so I don't know if that's normal, I would assume so. Did they have a long trip? They could be tired from that? I'm not sure.. I wish I could be more help.

I've found younger chicks are more active when first put into a new brooder whereas it may take older ones more time to get used to things in a new and larger environment. Just my experience and may not be what happens for everyone
