Hi all.
Does anyone here have info or pointers about baby quail? Perhaps point me in the right direction for info on feeding, etc.? Sadly, we had a mama quail get scared off of her newly hatched babies this morning. We think about 1/2 went with her, but the others got scattered, stuck in things, and scared. We waited, but the mom never returned. f So, my daughter rescued and set up a box for them. We have Timothy hay in the bottom for bedding. They have a heat lamp and a nice set up inside, but other than tossing in some poppy seeds (which I read on a post), we have no clue what to do with them. They are noisy, active, and seem fine right now. --- We have raised chicks numerous times, but this is new for us. Thanks!

Game bird or turkey starter ground finely enough so they can eat it. Avoid the seeds, their digestive system won't take much from them at that age and it may actually cause them problems.

Whatever type of quail they are (I'm assuming blue scaled or gambels), just search byc for care instruction for that species. Every species in the US is raised domestically as well, care will be the same for your birds as those.

New world quail also usually need probiotics to aid digestion. You can sometimes find them at feed stores, or you can use probiotic capsules for humans in small doses.

Put marbles in their water so they can't get wet or drown themselves.
